Overgrowth is a new and ongoing artistic collaboration between photographer Parker Fitzgerald and floral designer Riley Messina

Inspired by a pursuit of beauty, Riley combines classically thoughtful botanical designs with Parker’s carefully considered film images in an expression of the multifaceted relationship between humankind and nature. The two artists contrast anonymous portraiture with sweeping landscapes in an attempt to capture both the malleable and untamed aspects of the natural world.

Are you worried you won't find a career in textiles? Do you have any back-up options incase textiles doesn't pan out as you would have hoped?

When I’m in a self deprecating mood yes, I most definitely worry.

I don’t ever have a plan b, I’m an all or nothing kind of person. But I really don’t see how textiles won’t work for me. I enjoy it with every fibre of my being so what else can I really ask for? There’s always a way, and I’m stubborn enough to find it. But as a sidenote I’d love to dabble in book cover design, because that just seems like jolly good fun.

"You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, or who had ever been alive."
James Baldwin (via gebeine)

Fashions of the Future as Imagined in 1893

Illustrations from “Future Dictates of Fashion” by W. Cade Gall that was published in the January 1893 issue of The Strand magazine.

At first I thought this was some “fashion of witches and wizards through the ages” type thing but nah everyone is supposed to dress like this. I wish everyone dressed like this.

nailed it

Their interpretation on of the 1970s isn’t wrong. But yes, def wix fashion.
